Sometimes, if you have sickle cell disease, doctors might suggest a treatment called a stem cell transplant. This is a complex thing, and whether it is right for you depends on your own situation. The doctor taking care of you is the best person to explain everything, but the Sickle Cell Society has teamed up with the Anthony Nolan organisation and created a leaflet that we believe you will find useful.

Thalassaemia and stem cell transplant

Sometimes, doctors might suggest a stem cell transplant for people with thalassaemia.  This is often something that is look into during childhood, and whether it is appropriate depends on your specific situation.  The doctor taking care of you or your child if the right person to discuss this with.  The UK Thalassaemia Society has worked with the Anthony Nolan organisation to provide useful information.
