Western General Hospital
The Edinburgh centre serves NHS Lothian patients along with Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (REI) and St. Johns Hospital (SJH, Livingston). Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital (VHK) and the Borders General Hospital (BGH) also make up South East Scotland.
All hospital have individual pleural units and local anaesthetic thoracosocpy is currently available at VHK and REI, with the full range of pleural diagnostic and therapeutic interventions available on all 5 sites. Surgical input with VATS is offered at REI by the thoracic surgeons. Oncology expertise is provided by the Edinburgh Cancer Centre, WGH.
