Guidelines for Clinical Practice
Guidelines developed to assist health care professionals in medical decision making for specific clinical conditions.
The Scottish Paediatric Endocrine Group (SPEG) is a National Managed Clinical Network (NMCN), which was formalised in April 2009. The clinical remit includes endocrine and growth disorders in children and young people.
Paediatric endocrine services are currently delivered in local multi-disciplinary teams supported by the three regional tertiary centres: Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (NHS Grampian), Royal Hospital for Children (NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde) and the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (NHS Lothian) through joint outreach clinics and shared care systems where appropriate. This model ensures the network provides services that are person centred and delivered locally where possible.
The vision of SPEG is one of collaboration and multi-disciplinary team working – through continuous education, training and guideline development – to ensure significant and continued improvements in the outcomes of children and young people with endocrine conditions.
