SANON Subgroups

Supportive & Psychological Care

The SANON Supportive and Psychological Care (SPC) subgroup was formed in 2007. Initially comprising healthcare professionals, the group expanded its membership in 2011 to include representatives from each of the brain tumour charities active in Scotland. It continues as a developing collaboration between NHS staff, neuro-oncology researchers, and third-sector organisations:

A forum for communication and a platform for action.

Since its inception in November 2007 the SPC group has:

  • Agreed a definition of Supportive and psychological care
  • Adopted the NICE guidelines’ / Mount Vernon Cancer Network’s 4-level competency framework for psychological care in adults with cancer
  • Presented at each SANON national meeting
