The Compassionate Friend

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a national organisation of bereaved parents offering support and understanding to others after the loss of a child, of any age, from any cause.
Their National Helpline is staffed by volunteers who are bereaved parents themselves and offers support and information 365 days a year.

The Compassionate Friends also offer:
- A comprehensive website and moderated online community forum
- Local and specialist support groups and one-to-one support, many of their support groups take place online and are held via video conferencing due to the Covid pandemic
- A befriending scheme where the newly bereaved are ‘buddied’ by a volunteer longer-bereaved parent (Grief Companion Scheme)
- Group support via social media in private, well-moderated Facebook groups
- Information leaflets, bereavement support publications and a unique postal library on all aspects of bereavement
- Support for adult bereaved siblings is also available
At a Loss

At A Loss is a signposting website for bereaved people and the organisations aim is to ensure that every bereaved person in the UK can find the support that they need.
They offer free and immediate access to a professional counsellor to talk to via a ‘live-chat’ facility via a website called ‘GriefChat’. They outsource this service to ensure that anyone bereaved has access to professional counsellors free of charge, that the service offered is guaranteed and, importantly, is consistently of a high standard.
Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK helps children, parents and families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. They support children and young people up to the age of 25 who are facing bereavement, and anyone affected by the death of a child of any age.
They offer free, confidential bereavement support by telephone, video or instant messenger.
CBUK bereavement support practitioners are fully trained and adhere to national safeguarding legislation, and all services provide a safe environment for families and young people to receive support.
