Introducing A-Z of Deafness/hearing loss for Health Visitors. To support the BSL National Plan, NDCS Scotland will host a webinar on Thur 29th July 2021 10.30am-12pm. There we will launch a resource we have published for Health Visitors who are supporting deaf children and their families.

The webinar will also include training on deafness/hearing loss and will cover:

 

– An introduction to childhood deafness.

– Deaf awareness, what to look out for.

– How you can help and the role of other professionals.

– Q&A session about deafness with a parent and a panel of experts working with deaf children and their families in health care and education settings.

 

The resource has been endorsed by CEN Hearing Impairment (Scotland) and was written by expert advisors working in NHS Scotland, specialising in Deafness and Speech and Language.

Who is the training for?

This webinar is for Health Visitors and students in Scotland, who want to learn about early years deafness so that they can better support families of deaf children on their caseloads.

Health Visitors and students who attended the ‘Supporting Families of Deaf Children’ that was run by NDCS Everyone Together team in 2017-18 will benefit from attending this webinar. It will refresh their knowledge and provide a space to link up with other working across Scotland in their profession.

Sign onto the Eventbrite link and fill out the booking information to reserve your space. You will receive a pre-event pack before the webinar.

How to join?

This webinar will be on Zoom, which you can access on your computer, lap-top, phone or tablet.

When you first join, you may be prompted to download Zoom which only takes a few seconds to do with a normal broadband connection.

Once you have booked your place, further joining instructions will be provided closer to the event date.

 

Can I join using any device?

To be able to fully participate in activities during the workshops, we would recommend using a desktop or laptop. Other devices may not allow all functionality.

 

Do I need to book my own communication support?

No. We will have captions and BSL Interpreters as standard. Please contact us via Stephanie.Faboya@ndcs.org.uk if you require any other access support.

 

What if I need to cancel?

If you are unable to attend and need to cancel your place, please contact us at Stephanie.Faboya@ndcs.org.uk

 

Do I need to be a member?

No, however if you’d like to become a professional member you can join for free. Our membership allows you to join our community of professionals who are supporting deaf children, young people and their families throughout the UK.

Can I share my log in details with a friend of colleague to join?

No. The log in details are for 1 person only.

There will be a registration period prior to the start of the event where we will be checking the name of those entering against the delegate list (names of those registered to the Eventbrite tickets).

If your name does not feature on the list, you will not be allowed entry to the webinar.
