About Us

The Hearing Impairment Network for Children & Young People (HINCYP) was established in 2019 and its purpose is to support services and families to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people in Scotland with bilateral severe or profound hearing loss, through better access to high quality specialist care and support. It is hoped that children and young people with all levels of deafness will benefit from the establishment of this network.

In order to reach these goals, HINCYP works through a partnership of patients from 0 to 18 years, their families and friends, health care professionals, education and social work professionals and the voluntary sector.

HINCYP has specific Task and Finish groups that help deliver specific objectives, such as:

  • Identifying training needs for professionals
  • Ensure wide engagement and involvement from professionals and service users
  • Review and implement the existing Paediatric Audiology Quality Standards
  • Identify what services are available, method of access and workforce statistics
  • Develop robust systems for data collection purposes
