The launching of the festival is on Saturday 7th May 2022 with Family Encounters at the National Museum of Scotland, a day of free, pop-up performances for families and children of all ages. The day will begin at 10am and finish at 4:30pm.

At this year’s Family Encounters is a performance that has been designed specifically for blind and visually impaired children. It’s called How Do You Take A Photo of a Dinosaur? and is by theatre makers and performers Emily Nicholl and Ellen Renton. Here’s a wee synopsis about the show:

How do you take a photo of a dinosaur that doesn’t want to be seen? Join Emily and Ellen on a journey full of sensory surprises as they set off on a quest to find out!

The Festival and Emily and Ellen are very keen to prioritise blind and visually impaired children accessing the performance at Family Encounters and so have organised advanced booking for blind and visually impaired children who want to come along to How Do You Take A Photo of a Dinosaur? – their parents or guardians just need to email  isabel@imaginate.org.uk or katie@imaginate.org.uk to book a slot.
