Dave is the Lead Clinician Cleft Care Scotland network. National Cleft Surgical Service for Scotland, Royal Hospital for Children and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow.
Dave is a Consultant Cleft and Maxillofacial Surgeon with the National Cleft Service for Scotland based in Glasgow and specialising in treating children and adults with cleft lip and palate. He qualified in dentistry and then medicine from the University of Manchester . He trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery the Northwest of England and cleft surgery in the North East of England and Canada
Dave was appointed in November 2005 In Wales as a consultant cleft and maxillofacial surgeon in Swansea for 13 years as the lead cleft surgeon with the Welsh Cleft service. He moved to Glasgow in 2018 to join the Scottish Cleft Service. He also specialised in paediatric maxillofacial surgery, facial deformity surgery and rhinoplasty. He has an interest in surgical training and has been the Chair of the Training Interface Group for cleft surgery in the UK. He is currently Chair of the UK training committee for Maxillofacial Surgery. He has always been a strong advocate for cleft patients and their families and is a trustee of CLAPA.
Between 2002 and 2019 Dave has travelled to India to provide Cleft Care with the Northern Cleft Foundation charity treating cleft patients and supports the development of local surgeons and services. He has worked extensively across Southern and Central India . He is now working with the charity and clinicians at the University of Hanoi in Vietnam to further develop their cleft services.
