{"id":868,"date":"2017-08-28T21:50:50","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T20:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ssn-dev.scot.nhs.uk\/?page_id=868"},"modified":"2024-02-06T18:37:09","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T18:37:09","slug":"international","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/ssn\/patients-carers\/useful-links\/international\/","title":{"rendered":"International"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society (EMSOS)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The aims of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emsos.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society (EMSOS)<\/a> are to advance the science and practice of the diagnosis and treatment of bone and soft tissue tumours, promote basic and clinical research and to disseminate knowledge in order to provide a common high standard of musculo-skeletal oncology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">European Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ESTRO)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1980, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.estro.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ESTRO)<\/a> exists to advance all aspects of radiation oncology through a range of activities for its members and the wider healthcare and patient communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">European Cancer Organisation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecco-org.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Cancer Organisation<\/a> is a not-for-profit federation that exists to uphold the right of all European cancer patients to the best possible treatment and care, promoting interaction between all organisations involved in cancer at European level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esmo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO)<\/a> is the leading European professional medical oncology organization comprising a network of more than 5,000 oncology professionals in over 100 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">European Organisation for Research &amp; Treatment of Cancer (EORTC)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eortc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Organisation for Research &amp; Treatment of Cancer (EORTC)<\/a> aims ultimately to increase people\u2019s survival and quality of life by testing new therapeutic strategies based on existing drugs, surgery and radiotherapy.\u00a0 EORTC also helps develop new drugs and approaches in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry and in patients\u2019 best interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">American Institute for Cancer Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aicr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Institute for Cancer Research<\/a> (AIRC) helps people make choices that reduce their chances of developing cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Radiation oncologists, radiation oncology nurses, medical physicists, radiation therapists, dosimetrists and biologists comprise <a href=\"http:\/\/www.astro.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO)<\/a> more than 10,000 members, making it the largest radiation oncology organization of its kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">National Cancer Institute of Canada<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 1 2009, the Canadian Cancer Society integrated the operations of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cancer.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Cancer Institute of Canada<\/a> (NCIC), creating the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For 40 years, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtog.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG)<\/a> has been a recognized leader in working to increase survival and improve the quality of life for cancer patients.
