{"id":2890,"date":"2020-03-04T13:01:51","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T13:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottishmesotheliomanetwork.scot.nhs.uk\/?page_id=2890"},"modified":"2024-02-12T15:57:24","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T15:57:24","slug":"mdt","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/professionals\/mdt\/","title":{"rendered":"MDT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The aim of the Scottish Mesothelioma MDT is to discuss and plan the management of all patients with a confirmed new diagnosis of mesothelioma and all patients where a diagnostic or therapeutic decision needs multidisciplinary input i.e patients with progressive disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MDT ensures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Decisions regarding diagnosis, treatment and care are based on national guidelines and protocols where these exist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prompt effective multidisciplinary decision making<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients and with their consent, carers, are involved as partners in timely decisions and receive information about their treatment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improves co-ordination, communication and information flows with all appropriate health care professionals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All mechanisms are in place to support entry of eligible patients into clinical trials, subject to patients giving fully informed consent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assistance with clinical audit that informs the changes required to improve the quality of patient care through Quality Performance Indicators (QPIs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To act as a multi-professional education forum ensuring continuous professional development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Weekly Scotland Wide\u00a0<strong>Mesothelioma MDT<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The MDT meeting is held on a weekly basis and is attended by Respiratory Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists from multiple sites across Scotland as well as consultants from Radiology, Pathology, Oncology, Cardiothoracic surgery and Palliative Care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MDT Referral Process\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To refer a patient to the Scottish National MDT, please complete all non-shaded sections of the MDT referral form (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottishmesotheliomanetwork.scot.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2023\/06\/National-Mesothelioma-MDT-referral-form-V4.xls\">Scottish Mesothelioma Referral Form V4<\/a>)&nbsp;and email to&nbsp;<a>scottish.mesotheliomamdt@nhs.scot<\/a>&nbsp; The Mesothelioma MDT is held every Friday @ 1.30pm.&nbsp; The cut off date for referrals is 9 o\u2019clock on the Thursday before MDT and all outcomes will be forwarded to the referring clinician Friday afternoon.&nbsp; Any referrals received after 9.00am on the Thursday will be discussed the following week.&nbsp; Due to COVID-19, the Scottish Mesothelioma MDT is currently held virtually via MS teams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">The aim of the Scottish Mesothelioma MDT is to discuss and plan the management of all patients with a confirmed [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"parent":2862,"menu_order":1,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-2890","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2890","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2890"}],"version-history":[{"count":25,"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2890\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":6236,"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2890\/revisions\/6236"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2862"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nn.nhs.scot\/scottishmesotheliomanetwork\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2890"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
