Care Village<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nhsforthvalley.com\/hospitals\/falkirk-community-hospital\/\">Falkirk Community Hospital<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Forth Valley Royal Hospital (FVRH) provides A&amp;E for the Board area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Neurosurgery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Neurosurgery, if required, currently takes place in Edinburgh.&nbsp; In the future patients are likely to be sent both to Edinburgh and to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsggc.org.uk\/locations\/hospitals\/institute-of-neurosciences-and-spinal-unit-qeuh-campus\/\">Queen Elizabeth University Hospital<\/a> (in Glasgow).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After neurosurgery,&nbsp; patients are transferred to rehabilitation.&nbsp; There is no specific ward in Forth Valley Royal Hospital for ABI patients, however, once stable, patients are likely to be referred to&nbsp; Unit 1, Falkirk Community Hospital, and\/or to REACH (Rehabilitation and Assessment in the Community and Home).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rehabilitation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultant in rehabilitation medicine at FVRH will review all patients as they arrive from Glasgow or Edinburgh, typically after neurosurgery.&nbsp; It takes patients with complex needs \u2013 patients in Marchglen may need intensive nursing care, suctioning, PEG feeding, catheterising etc., as an alternative to providing 24 hour care at home \/ supervision.&nbsp; Marchglen does not take patients with challenging behaviour, who may be referred to the Robert Fergusson Unit in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients may also be referred on to<strong> Glenbervie care home<\/strong> in Larbert, an independent centre that offers complex care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Third Sector Support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Headway Falkirk<\/strong> has services throughout the Falkirk area and this provides an opportunity to talk to others in a similar situation.
