There is no specific ward designated to admit such patients although the recent pathway has been in the main to the acute medical wards. If the patient is medically stable and a bed is available then the patient would be transferred direct to the Sir George Sharp Unit at Cameron Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rehabilitation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fife Neuro-rehabilitation Service is based at the <strong>Sir George Sharp Unit<\/strong> in Cameron Hospital and provides a Fife-wide service for those with physical disability due to neurological disability, primarily in the 16-64 age group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Individuals requiring rehabilitation are transferred to the Sir George Sharp Unit. This has 12 beds for acute\/post acute neurorehabilitation and acquired brain injury constitutes over 80% of admissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unit provides assessment and rehabilitation on and in-patient, out-patient and &nbsp;community basis. The main diagnostic groups seen are multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, including traumatic head injury, and younger stroke patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients are accepted from the acute hospital in Fife (Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy) and the neurosurgical units in both Edinburgh and Dundee for patients resident in Fife. Headway Fife groups and committee are managed by brain injury survivors and carers. Therefore they fully understand the problems and pressures that people face on a daily basis.
