More information on each audit is available on request by emailing <a href=\"mailto:nss.niccs@nhs.scot\">nss.niccs@nhs.scot<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) Audit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of this audit is to understand more about everyone in Scotland who has a diagnosis of Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May each year, a data collection spreadsheet is sent to each ICC centre requesting information on patients with HCM who have been referred to their service in the previous year. The information collected is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CHI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health Board of Residence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ICC Centre where patient is being treated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Genotype<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phenotype<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proband<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clinical Diagnosis Date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Genetic Test Date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The data should be returned by the end of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sudden Cardiac Death Audit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of this audit is to find out more about the post mortem and genetic testing processes that take place following sudden cardiac deaths.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May each year, a data collection spreadsheet is sent to colleagues in pathology and genetics seeking information on what took place following all sudden cardiac death in the previous year. The information collected is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pathology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Total number of forensic autopsies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of autopsy cases with Sudden Arrhythmic Death<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of autopsy cases with Sudden Cardiac Death<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of autopsy cases where a sample was taken for genetics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of cases where pathologists recommended genetics referral<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Genetics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Number of samples received by local genetics laboratory for Sudden Arrhythmic Death<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of samples received by the local genetics laboratory for Sudden Cardiac Death<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of sudden unexpected death cases where genetic testing was undertaken for:<ul><li>Genetic arrhythmia (SADS cases)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Cardiomyopathy (sudden cardiac death where cardiomyopathy is suspected)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Aortopathy<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Hypercholesterolaemia<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Thrombophilia<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Other<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For each category, the number of cases where an actionable variant was detected<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For each category, the number of cases where a family member attended a genetic clinic or where cardiology investigations (e.g. ECG, echocardiogram) were undertaken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The data should be returned by the end of September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">NICCS undertakes two national annual audits each year.
